Rutgers OL Jackson joining Buckeyes as grad transfer

Offensive lineman Jonah Jackson will be immediately eligible to play for Ohio State this season as a graduate transfer. He was an honorable mention All-Big 10 selection with Rutgers in 2018.

SOURCE: Rutgers is hiring Kansas City Chiefs defensive quality control coach Jay Valai as cornerbacks coach. Valai, a former safety at Wisconsin, replaces Henry Baker, who briefly was with Rutgers before taking a position with the New York Giants. Before the Chiefs, Valai spent two seasons as a defensive quality control assistant at Georgia. He knows Chris Ash from their time together at Wisconsin.

Breaking down the Big Ten recruiting classes

The usual suspects -- Michigan and Ohio State -- are near the top of the recruiting rankings again, but the most surprising classes in the conference are at places like Nebraska, Purdue and Wisconsin.

I'm hearing Rutgers will hire Central Connecticut coach Pete Rossomando as offensive line coach. Football Scoop first reported the move. Rossomando has been a head coach since 2008 at New Haven and Central Connecticut, going 65-47 with three playoff appearances. He coached offensive line early in his career at New Haven, Northeastern and Cortland.

Sources: Rutgers is expected to hire Andy Buh as defensive coordinator, replacing Jay Niemann. Buh spent the past three years as Maryland's defensive coordinator. ScarletNation.com first reported the move. Buh also has been defensive coordinator at Cal and Nevada and held position coach spots at Kentucky, Wisconsin and Stanford, among others.

Rutgers is re-hiring Henry Baker as cornerbacks coach, according to a source. 247 Sports first reported the move. Baker spent this season at North Carolina after serving as Rutgers' cornerbacks coach in 2017. The Paterson, New Jersey, native is a strong recruiter who should help Rutgers in that area.

No surprise here: Michigan earned the final No. 5 spot of the season after getting blown out by Ohio State. But who landed the historic No. 1 ranking?
