Ertz makes the Davey O'Brien Award watch list

Kansas State QB Jesse Ertz has been named to the 2017 Davey O'Brien Award watch list. This year's list was selected based on player performance during the previous year and expectations heading into the 2017 college football season. Ertz threw for 1,755 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2016.

Kansas State's Bill Snyder, the elder statesman in all of college football, said he's proud of young coaches Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma and Texas' Tom Herman. Both, Snyder said, are "guys that I'm convinced really want to do it right."

Three Wildcats make Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list

Kansas State DB D.J. Reed, DE Reggie Walker and DT Will Geary were named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list on Thursday. The award goes to the nation's top defensive standout. Last season, Reed recorded 78 total tackles and three interceptions. Walker had 38 total tackles, including 4.5 sacks, while Geary finished with 45 total tackles.
