Former Tennessee and Houston quarterback Quinten Dormady is transferring to Central Michigan, he announced today on Twitter. Dormady appeared in only one game at Houston, attempting five passes, and redshirted the season after transferring from Tennessee in April. He started the first five games for Tennessee in 2017 before being replaced by Jarrett Guarantano. Dormady said he's 100 percent healthy and will have one year of eligibility for new CMU coach Jim McElwain in 2019.

Houston DT Oliver won't play in bowl game

All-American defensive tackle Ed Oliver's playing days at Houston are over as the junior is skipping the Cougars' bowl game to begin preparing for the NFL draft.

Houston offensive coordinator Kendal Briles and offensive line coach/run-game coordinator Randy Clements both agree to three-year deals (through the 2021 season) to remain at the school. Briles was a primary candidate for the Texas State head-coaching vacancy, which went to Jake Spavital today.

Houston has fired defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio. The Cougars allowed 34.2 points per game and struggled down the stretch, allowing 36 points or more in five of their final six games and allowing 45, 52, 59 and 63 points in their losses. Houston could be looking for two new coordinators as offensive coordinator Kendal Briles is in the mix for the Texas State head-coaching vacancy.
