Post-spring 2017 Pac-12 power rankings

Now that every school is finished with spring practice, here's an updated look at how the Pac-12 power rankings will look in 2017.

Titans seventh-round RB Khalfani Muhammad from Cal was driving in Inglewood, Calif. but was stopped at a light when he got the call from the Titans. His little brother was in a seven-on-seven tournament and he was returning home. "I run, I catch, I'm even down there making tackles on coverage units," he said. Said he beat new teammate Adoree' Jackson in high school track teams races.

The Jets took Cal WR Chad Hansen with their fourth-round pick. So this means they've picked two receivers and two safeties, an odd combination. Hansen, an Idaho State transfer, posted big numbers last season – 92 catches, 1,249 yards and 11 touchdowns. He's a size/speed prospect – 6-foot-2, 4.53 in the 40. Most of his production came on vertical routes and bubble screens. Are the Jets sending a message to injured veteran Eric Decker?

Giants give Eli heads up after taking QB Webb

Giants general manager Jerry Reese said he reached out to QB Eli Manning after the team selected former Cal QB Davis Webb in the third round of the NFL draft Friday night.

Giants add QB Davis Webb

Will he be Eli Manning's backup or eventual replacement? Mel Kiper Jr. says the Cal signal-caller has ideal size and arm strength, but also has some accuracy issues.

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

This is a good spot for the Giants to look at the quarterback position with Davis Webb. Think development in a pro offense. Webb played in a Air Raid system at Cal and he won't be forced on to the field with Eli Manning as the No.1 in New York.

Dan Graziano ESPN Staff Writer

Giants add QB Davis Webb, potentially setting themselves up for their post-Eli Manning future. Webb will get a couple or three years, at least, to develop under Ben McAdoo and with the help of Manning.

Nick Wagoner ESPN Staff Writer

The 49ers have back-to-back picks to open the third round and a whole lot of options. With Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer the only quarterback taken in the second round, the Niners could find their developmental prospect for coach Kyle Shanahan if they wanted to. Some of the signal callers still available as the Niners' pick approaches: Cal's Davis Webb, Pitt's Nathan Peterman, Tennessee's Joshua Dobbs and Miami's Brad Kaaya.

Is Friday the day the Browns, 49ers, Saints or Cardinals pick their QB of the future? DeShone Kizer, Joshua Dobbs, Nathan Peterman and Davis Webb lead the best signal-callers available headed into the second night of the NFL draft.

Cal suffered a significant loss on the recruiting trail Tuesday evening as quarterback Adrian Martinez stepped back from his commitment to the Golden Bears. Martinez, the nation's No. 32 overall prospect and No. 3 pocket passer, committed to Cal last November and remained committed through the coaching change from Sonny Dykes to Justin Wilcox. Martinez said he was no longer 100% committed to Cal, though the school remains an option for him. Martinez has had a huge spring in picking up offers and took a recent visit to Tennessee. Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon and West Virginia are a few other programs that have offered.

Cal's offense was as multiple as promised under new coordinator Beau Baldwin, showing a plethora of different formations in today's spring game. Chase Forrest and Ross Bowers, the leaders in the QB race, both looked sharp.

Erik McKinney ESPN Staff Writer

As usual, the Pac-12 and West region dominate the quarterback discussion. Of the top 11 quarterbacks in the nation, seven have ties to the Pac-12 or West region. Nos. 2 and 7 pocket passers Jacob Sirmon and Colson Yankoff are committed to Washington, No. 3 pocket passer and No. 32 overall prospect Adrian Martinez is committed to Cal, No. 48 overall prospect Tanner McKee resides in Southern California, No. 50 overall prospect and No. 3 dual-threat quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson hails from Nevada and could commit to UCLA over Michigan this weekend and Nos. 64 and 67 overall prospects, Jack West and Matt Corral, are committed to Stanford and USC, respectively.
