Texas Tech announced that Clay McGuire has been hired as co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach. McGuire has spent the previous six seasons at Washington State, where he was offensive line coach. McGuire, who played at Tech from 2000-04, also coached for the Red Raiders from 2006-09.

Texas Tech has hired Kevin Johns as offensive coordinator and inside receivers coach to work alongside head coach and play-caller Kliff Kingsbury. Johns replaces Eric Morris, who recently took the head job at Incarnate Word. Johns was Western Michigan's offensive coordinator and QB coach last season.

Texas Tech wide receiver Keke Coutee announced Sunday he is declaring for the NFL Draft. Coutee had 11 catches for 187 yards and a touchdown in Tech's 38-34 loss to South Florida in the Birmingham Bowl on Saturday. He's the nation's No. 2 receiver with 1,429 receiving yards.

Source: Carter to start at QB for Texas Tech
