Royal Never Give Up made quick work of JD Gaming on Sunday, taking the 2-0 sweep to close out Week 3, Day 4 of the League of Legends Pro League in Shanghai.
Both teams were content to farm throughout the early stages of Game 1, with JD Gaming (0-5, 3-10 match record) taking a late game siege composition featuring mid laner Kim "doinb" Tae-sang on Corki. Royal Never Give Up (3-2, 7-6 match record) simply bided its time, farming until its late game teamfighting composition had enough gold to crush JDG. In a flurry of action at the 22-minute mark, RNG secured a 4-for-0 teamfight in the midlane for first blood, leading to a Baron kill. From there, the floodgates were open as RNG's lead grew to 8,000 gold by 25 minutes. After it secured its second Baron at 31 minutes, support Shi "Ming" Sen-Ming's Thresh continued to be a terror on the Chain Warden, catching JDG and feeding them to his ravenous RNG carries en route to a 0/0/12 KDA (kills/deaths/assists) for 100 percent kill participation. With a 15,500-gold lead, RNG closed out a 36-minute win over a visibly crushed JD Gaming.
Game 2 was more of the same as JDG drafted an AD carry for doinb while RNG drafted more late game teamfighting champions. The action started earlier than it had in Game 1, but the result was still the same as RNG tore the game open with a 4-for-1 at 13 minutes. RNG AD carry Wang "y4" Nong-Mo's Kalista had a field day later on, picking up a triple kill in a 5-for-3 RNG ace which eventually led to a 25-minute Baron. Little could be said for JD Gaming, who consistently showed a deficiency in decision making and critical errors in communication throughout the series. With the LPL's version of Team Liquid reeling, y4 picked up another triple kill in the closing 5-for-0 teamfight at 28 minutes as RNG closed out the 2-0 sweep with a quick 28-minute win.
Royal Never Give Up next faces the explosive DAN Gaming on Thursday at 4 a.m. ET, while JD Gaming will take on Invictus Gaming at 8 a.m. ET.
