The 12 teams that can win it all this year

In a wide-open college basketball season, few teams have stood out. Can just about any team win it all? Not quite. It's time to go through the list of legitimate candidates.

Spoke with E.J Montgomery who currently sits at no.16 in the ESPN 100. He has visited Duke and North Carolina unofficially and plans to go back to both for official visits. Kentucky is up next for an official visit on February 24th. He and is family are deciding on a fourth visit between Georgetown and Wake Forest. At 6'10" Montgomery possesses a 7'2" wing span with a soft mid-range touch. He is playing with more assertiveness and that has translated to his rebounding numbers. The bottom line is he has made steady progress over his career with plenty of growth left in his game.

Duke holds off Clemson (0:56)

Clemson was down 57-47 against Duke and made a terrific run to tie up the game with 2 minutes left. But the Tigers went scoreless down the stretch. Gary Trent Jr with clutch free throws and Wendell Carter Jr was a monster in the paint and on the glass. Grayson Allen set the tone in the first half with 17 points. Big road win in conference against a ranked opponent. Duke improving and peaking.

Neither possession was pretty, but Gary Trent Jr. gets fouled on a 3 with four on the shot clock, then Wendell Carter scores and gets fouled with two on the shot clock. Duke will take it. Duke escapes at Clemson and has now won three in a row with Marvin Bagley III sidelined.
