The Boston Red Sox traded catcher/utility player Blake Swihart to the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday, along with international amateur signing bonus pool space in exchange for minor league outfielder Marcus Wilson.

Pedroia gets good news on latest knee injury

Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia said he got good news about the irritation in his left knee that caused his return to the 10-day injured list.

The Red Sox placed infielder Eduardo Nunez on the 10-day injured list with a mild-back strain, retroactive to Thursday, the team announced. With 2B Dustin Pedroia and infielder Brock Holt also on the IL, the Red Sox called up infielders Tzu-Wei Lin and Michael Chavis from Triple-A Pawtucket. This is the 23-year old Chavis' first appearance on an active major-league roster.
