Love becomes ninth to opt out of Team USA

Cavs forward Kevin Love has become the ninth player to inform Team USA coach Gregg Popovich that he will not be participating in the FIBA World Cup this summer.

Cavs Legion GC, the NBA 2K League team owned by the Cleveland Cavaliers, announced a 2,700-square foot gaming center located in the Battery Park neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio, on Thursday. The center is the first of its kind in Northeast Ohio. It will feature 40 gaming stations and host public tournaments, esports educational programs and livestreamed events.

J.R. Smith has officially been waived and will have a $1.45M cap over the next three seasons. Cleveland will receive a $555K set-off if Smith signs a $2.6M veteran minimum exception with another team. The per year cap hit would be reduced to $1.27M. The Cavaliers are now $2.85M below the luxury tax with 13 guaranteed contracts.

Sources: Cavaliers, Smith push back guarantee

Seeking more time to work out a trade, the Cavaliers and J.R. Smith have agreed to push back the guarantee date of his contract from Sunday night until July 15, sources tell ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have come to an agreement with J.R. Smith to push back the guarantee date of his contract from Sunday night until July 15 to allow the team more time to trade him, sources told ESPN's Brian Windhorst. Only $3.9 million of Smith's $15.6 million salary was guaranteed, making him an option for teams looking to clear salary room. In consideration of Smith pushing the date back, his guarantee increased to $4.4 million, sources said.
