Ingram's missed punch may have helped him (1:24)

Ohm Youngmisuk ESPN Staff Writer

Brandon Ingram will miss the next four games against San Antonio, at Phoenix, against Denver and at San Antonio. He will return next Monday at Minnesota. Lonzo Ball could start against the Spurs, Suns and Nuggets in place of the suspended Rajon Rondo. Luke Walton could insert Kyle Kuzma into the starting lineup for Ingram. Lance Stephenson likely will get a bump in minutes with Rondo and Ingram suspended. Michael Beasley also could see more action after playing two minutes against Portland and logging a DNP against Houston.

The NBA suspended Brandon Ingram for four games and Rajon Rondo for three games. Chris Paul was suspended for two games. The NBA says Ingram's suspension was for "aggressively returning to and escalating the altercation and throwing a punch in the direction of Paul, confronting a game official in a hostile manner, and instigating the overall incident by shoving Rockets guard James Harden." Rondo's suspension was for "instigating a physical altercation with, and spitting and throwing multiple punches at, Paul." And Paul's suspension was for "poking at and making contact with the face of Rondo, and throwing multiple punches at him."

Windhorst: Ingram receives 'most severe penalty' after brawl (2:09)

Bobby Marks ESPN

The four game suspension by Brandon Ingram is the most (on-court) since the 7 game suspension when Metta World Peace took out James Harden in April 2012. Ironically that also occurred at the Staples Center. The NBA clearly sent a message today with all three suspensions.

Here are the financial implications from the altercation between Houston and the Lakers: Brandon Ingram will be fined $158,817 for the four games suspended. Rajon Rondo will be fined $186,207 for three games suspended. Chris Paul will be fined $491,781 for the two games suspended. The suspension is based on total salary divided by 145. In addition, Houston will receive a $245,891 credit that will be applied to their luxury tax at the end of the season.
