Bills rookie CB Taron Johnson said Sunday that Browns WR Jarvis Landry apologized to him after a block during Friday's game that injured Johnson. "I feel like I should have triggered faster," Johnson said. "I just got to be more aggressive on that play, that's the main thing. It's still football, at the end of the day. Stuff like that happens sometimes. I have no animosity toward him at all."

Bills safety Micah Hyde on Sunday called a block by WR Jarvis Landry against Bills CB Taron Johnson "ridiculous" and "BS," comparing it to a hit by Landry against former Bills safety Aaron Williams in 2016 that effectively ended Williams' career.

Nathan Peterman took the initial snap of individual drills in Bills practice Sunday, followed by Josh Allen. Reporters cannot watch 11-on-11 drills starting Sunday, but it is logical to assume Peterman will continue to lead the first-team offense for at least part of practice. AJ McCarron (right shoulder) is not practicing Sunday, along with DT Kyle Williams (knee).

Bills coach Sean McDermott said Sunday that tests on AJ McCarron's right shoulder were "not totally conclusive" and he is seeking a second opinion. McDermott said if McCarron is healthy, the Bills will "pick up where they left off" with three-way quarterback competition.

The Eagles are the best team in the NFL, per ESPN's Football Power Index. Changes to the vig on Philadelphia's season win total earlier this offseason bumped the defending champs over New England. However, the Patriots (17%) and Steelers (13%) remain more likely to win the Super Bowl than the Eagles (13%) because there are fewer contenders in the AFC. Note: these numbers were run before AJ McCarron's injury, which will affect the Bills' rating.

McCarron injured as Bills down Browns 19-17

Buffalo quarterback AJ McCarron sustained a potentially serious shoulder injury, throwing the Bills' quarterback situation into total disarray, during a 19-17 win over the Cleveland Browns on Friday night.

The Bills' three-way competition at quarterback could quickly become a two-man race after AJ McCarron suffered a right shoulder injury in Friday's game. McCarron started and failed to gain a first down in four offensive possessions, taking one first-quarter sack behind a problematic offensive line. Coach Sean McDermott could have a looming decision to make between Josh Allen (18 of 32 for 176 yards and two touchdowns this preseason) and Nathan Peterman (17 of 20 for 231 yards, two touchdowns and one interception).
