Kiper's Day 2 winners and losers

Cleveland fans surely want Deshone Kizer to be their long lost savior, but perhaps they shouldn't get their hopes up. The Browns don't seem like a good fit for him.

Larry Ogunjobi is the first player ever drafted from Charlotte in its brief program history, which started in 2013 and joined FBS two years later. He'll be a welcome addition to a Browns defense that allowed the NFL's second most rush yards last season (2,283).

The deal that got the Titans All-Pro RT Jack Conklin in 2016 meant they sat out the just-completed second round. The Titans got Conklin (at No. 8) and No. 176, which they traded. Cleveland got a couple Colemans -- No. 15 WR Corey Coleman and No. 76 OT Shon Coleman -- as well as No. 52 this year, Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer.

Browns add interior DL Larry Ogunjobi

The Browns begin the third round selecting a disruptive interior defensive tackle in Ogunjobi, who has a good combination of quickness and power.

The pick of QB DeShone Kizer changes the feel of this draft. The Browns have a young quarterback to groom and help grow to go with three talented players taken in the first round. There were points of last season that the combination of Myles Garrett and Kizer would have thrilled people. There's no reason it shouldn't be a reason for excitement now.

Toledo, Ohio native DeShone Kizer joins a group of Buckeye State QBs drafted by the Browns that includes Bernie Kosar, Brady Quinn and Charlie Frye.

Very interested to see how QB DeShone Kizer develops under Hue Jackson. The talent, size and arm strength is there with Kizer. He flashes on the tape. And Jackson is one of the best teachers in the NFL.

Browns get their QB in DeShone Kizer

Cleveland waited until the 52nd pick to take the Notre Dame signal-caller, who has Ben Roethlisberger-like size and strength, but Mel Kiper Jr. cautions against throwing him onto the field as a starter right away.

Browns take Kizer, 'surprised' QB there in R2

The Browns said DeShone Kizer's willingness to learn in the pre-draft process was a big reason they selected the former Notre Dame QB in the second round Friday night.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

The Browns took their shot at a quarterback when they took Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer in the second round. Kizer has physical skills — size, a strong arm — but he needs work on fundamentals and in understanding an NFL offense. He's an intriguing pick given his potential, but he needs to work to realize that potential.

Garrett: Played at 75% in 2016 due to ankle

Myles Garrett, the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft, said Friday during his Browns introduction that he struggled during his last year at Texas A&M due to a lingering ankle injury.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

The most intriguing Browns question as the second round gets going: Will they draft a quarterback? The second tier group is there, with DeShone Kizer, Davis Webb, Brad Kaaya, Josh Dobbs and Nathan Peterman the options.
