Stefon Diggs will get hot for a week or two, but he hasn't been consistently great. Minnesota has several other useful pieces, but no true star power at the moment.

The Vikings had 38 players on hand for their first day of early work before their full squad reports to training camp on Wednesday. Here's a brief summary of their day: Best play: Cornerback Tre Roberson, a former college quarterback who was in Vikings camp last year, made up for getting beat early in practice with several nice plays, including an interception of Taylor Heinicke on a deep throw to Isaac Fruechte. Rookie report: Third-round pick Pat Elflein worked at center along with the Vikings' rookies and quarterbacks, and struggled a bit during 11-on-11 work, with a pair of errant snaps. Fifth-round pick Rodney Adams juggled a punt and dropped a pass before making a nice catch along the sideline. Sixth-rounder Bucky Hodges had an impressive moment where he turned upfield for a big gain after catching a sideline pass. Overheard: "In a former life, back when I was in Philadelphia, this is what we did. We would have three days with selected veterans, the rookies and the quarterbacks. It got everybody going, plus the rookies got a chance to develop three more days. It certainty is beneficial for the guys that are here." -- Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, on whether several extra days of work can help make up for some of the development time lost in the NFL offseason program through the 2011 CBA.
