The Giants waived C Evan Brown, who was a late add to the roster last week as a contingency. Also had their massive bye week workout Monday that included QB Tanner Lee, WR J.J. Nelson, G Larry Allen and a bunch of long snappers and kickers/punters including Elliott Frye and Kaare Vedvik.

The concussions continue to come for the Giants. Scary. TE Rhett Ellison is also in the concussion protocol now. Joins LT Nate Solder and CB Janoris Jenkins from Sunday's game vs. Jets.

Pat Shurmur says he's "not going to make any coaching changes" during the bye week. Of course, as we've seen before, that isn't always the coach's choice. He wouldn't disclose whether he's spoken with ownership yet.

Eww York: Darnold, Jets hold on to beat Jones, Giants 34-27

Le'Veon Bell scored a go-ahead 1-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter after a 33-yard pass interference penalty on DeAndre Baker, and the New York Jets rallied and then held on to beat the Giants 34-27 on Sunday for Big Apple bragging rights.

The state of the Giants: "Disappointment" is the word Pat Shurmur used to describe it. Ask about concern for his job with six straight losses entering the bye week, he said his concern is putting a team on the field that can win football games.

This disaster of a season keeps getting worse. The Giants lost to the lowly crosstown rival Jets, 34-27, on Sunday afternoon. It's their sixth straight loss heading into the bye week. Have to wonder if any changes will be made by ownership considering the embarrassment of this season and game. Jets came in averaging 12.0 points per game.

Darius Slayton with his first career 100-yard receiving game. Jets can't cover the rookie WR.

The Giants settled in after an awful start and are down 14-13 at halftime. Again the positive is that Daniel Jones has flashed (10-of-13 for 113 and 2 TDs). So has rookie WR Darius Slayton (2 TDs).

Left tackle Nate Solder ruled out with a concussion. That leaves the Giants without their two starting tackles. Mike Remmers (back) is inactive. Now in: Eric Smith at LT and Nick Gates at RT. Neither has started an NFL game.

The first quarter is over and the Jets have already eclipsed their average of 12.0 points per game. Up 14-0. Yikes!

Seth Walder ESPN Analytics

With a loss today, the Jets would have a 16% shot at the No. 1 overall pick, per FPI. The Giants would have an 8% chance at the top pick if they lost.

Alibay Barkley, father of Saquon and diehard Jets fan, decided to watch Giants vs Jets from home. Didn't want to be in spotlight, Saquon told me. That's not his deal. Saquon Barkley said the other day his dad might show up in a Joe Namath Jets jersey.

Giants shorthanded on offense. Down 4 starters with RT Mike Remmers (back) officially out. Inactives: WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) TE Evan Engram (foot) C Jon Halapio (hamstring) RT Mike Remmers (back) OL Chad Slade OLB Chris Peace QB Alex Tanney
